Program: Understanding Orchid Tags, Awards, Species, Clones & more
Presenter: Jackie Wood, AOS Judge
Date: October 9, 2025 @ 7:30 PM

Jackie Wood is a Accredited AOS Judge with the West Palm Beach Judging Center where she served as Vice Chair and Community Outreach Committee Chair. She started as a hobbyist back in the late 1990’s after being invited as a guest on a Boca Orchid Society bus trip to Redlands International Orchid Festival in Homestead, FL. Having a deep passion for anything horticultural, she was very easily enticed into purchasing her first orchids on that trip and immediately became addicted. She has since developed a passion for orchid species rather than hybrids and has a large collection of vandas, phalaenopsis, dendrobium, bulbophyllum, stanhopea, lycaste, catasetum and cattleya species.

Jackie served as President of the Boca Raton Orchid Society for 5 years and as Program Chair and Show Chair for several years after that. She recently retired as the Society’s Judging Committee Chair.

Members are permitted to sell plants at this meeting and we will have raffles and plant judging.

Doors open at 6:30 PM for the Help Desk and at 6:45 PM for socializing and snacks.

Monthly Meetings

Our Society meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm. You are always welcome to attend a meeting, check out what's happening and meet our members.

At each meeting we have an interesting speaker, a raffle table, refreshments, a lending library for members, a ribbon-judged display table of members' plants, and a sales table where you can find fabulous bargains. The meetings are a great opportunity to see and learn of the wide variety of fabulous orchids that can be grown in South Florida.
