Monthly Meetings

The Society meets at 7:30pm on the second Thursday of each month at the Safe Schools Institute located at 1790 NW Spanish River Blvd, Boca Raton, FL 33433.
All orchid lovers are welcome to attend our meetings, check out what is happening and meet our members. Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary – just an appreciation of the fantastic variety of the world of orchids and a desire to learn more!

Next Meeting: Thursday, November 14 @ 7:30 PM
Program: The giant world of miniature orchids and growing in simple set ups
Presenter: Tomas Bajza, Tarzan Orchids

An orchid lover and addict, he originally came to the USA from the Czech Republic and settled down in hot tropical Miami, Florida. 2010 was the first time Tomas had ever seen a miniature orchid. He had no clue that such a thing even existed! He fell in love immediately and ordered a few. When they arrived, they were even smaller than he ever imagined. That was it, he was bitten by a “huge” miniature orchid bug. He is a very stubborn grower and does not listen to anything, like the word “impossible”. He likes all orchids, but has a huge amount of love for cold to intermediate growing species. He was told by many growers that due to the hot climate in Florida that these types of orchids could not be grown. Through extended research, reading and being active in different orchid boards and orchid groups, He’s learned tremendously and has become an advanced grower for miniature orchids.

Our Orchid Society

The Boca Raton Orchid Society began in 1989 with just 27 members. Since then, the Society has grown tremendously and now has a membership of more than 140 members. Our subtropical climate is perfect for growing an astounding variety of warm to intermediate temperature orchids in Palm Beach County. Each year our members enjoy several fun-filled orchid events, including an Awards meeting in December and the highlight event, our Annual Valentines Show & Sale scheduled for February 8 - 9, 2025.
